Sukhi Kaur joined Costello, McMahon, Gilbreth & Murphy, Ltd., in August 2018. Prior to joining the firm, Sukhi worked at the Law Office of George M. Sanders. While there, she focused on complex federal antitrust matters as well as competitive practices in the healthcare industry.

Sukhi received her B.S., Business Management from Wayne State University. While she was a full-time college student, Sukhi worked at a property development firm where she helped manage various residential properties across Michigan.

After college, Sukhi attended DePaul University College of Law, where she was a recipient of the DePaul Law Merit Scholarship. While in Law School, Sukhi dedicated her time to volunteering at the Domestic Violence Court House, assisting self-represented individuals obtain Emergency Orders of Protection. Sukhi also was temporarily licensed to practice law under the Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711. She used her license to participate in the Legal Clinic at DePaul University College of Law where she reached favorable outcomes for her clients in a variety of matters. Sukhi was awarded the Dean’s Certificate of Service and the Chancellor’s Award for Service for her pro bono publico work during her time at DePaul.

Sukhi’s work at Costello, McMahon, Gilbreth & Murphy, Ltd. is focused on personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability cases. When she first joined our firm, Sukhi third-chaired Bill Burke and Karen Enright on a medical malpractice trial.

Sukhi is currently admitted to practice in Illinois, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Sukhi became a member of the Northern District of Illinois Federal Trial Bar in 2019. Sukhi is also an active member of the Women’s Committee of the South Asian Bar Organization, where she focuses her time on professional development of minority women and recognizing women in the legal profession.

Sukhi is a first generation Indian-American and speaks Punjabi and Hindi fluently. Her parents immigrated to this country in the early 1990’s. They settled down in Michigan, where they built successful businesses. In her free time, Sukhi enjoys traveling, cooking, and visiting her family in Michigan.
